SADI-s
(SINGLE ANASTOMOSIS DUODENO ILEAL BYPASS)

Tratamientos Obesium-25.png

It is a novel surgery similar to the minigastric bypass. It consists of doing a bypass of one anastomosis only, but with a larger gastric reservoir that preserves the esophageal distal sphincter (pylorus) and performs the anastomosis to the duodenum.

History

First described by A. Sánchez –Pernaute; it is also known as one anastomosis duodenal switch. It is gaining popularity since it is a simpler technique than the duodenal switch, however, it is a technique with potential for more serious complications. These have prevented it from being more widespread.

Weight loss and illness resolution

  • Similar results to duodenal switch. Better results than the gastric bypass because of its increased malabsorption.

  • Good quality of life.

  • Similar mortality and morbidity to the rest of techniques, if the surgeon is an expert.

  • Very good resolution of comorbidies.
