SADI-s
(SINGLE ANASTOMOSIS DUODENO ILEAL BYPASS)
It is a novel surgery similar to the minigastric bypass. It consists of doing a bypass of one anastomosis only, but with a larger gastric reservoir that preserves the esophageal distal sphincter (pylorus) and performs the anastomosis to the duodenum.
History
First described by A. Sánchez –Pernaute; it is also known as one anastomosis duodenal switch. It is gaining popularity since it is a simpler technique than the duodenal switch, however, it is a technique with potential for more serious complications. These have prevented it from being more widespread.
Weight loss and illness resolution
Similar results to duodenal switch. Better results than the gastric bypass because of its increased malabsorption.
Good quality of life.
Similar mortality and morbidity to the rest of techniques, if the surgeon is an expert.
Very good resolution of comorbidies.
