Will I have to take pills for life after the obesity surgery?
In some cases you will. The most malabsorptive surgeries will cause more weight loss, but they will also decrease nutrient absorption. In these cases you have to take supplements for life like vitamins and minerals. If the surgery restricts only the amount of food you can eat, it is usually enough to take supplements for some time.
After the surgery can I expect my health problems to disappear?
Almost all patients will see their health issues improve significantly, including diabetes, hypertension, sleep apnea syndrome, high cholesterol, etc. Some patients can be completely cured from these diseases. It will depend on several factors, in particular how long ago the disease was diagnosed. Our team will carefully select the most beneficial technique for your pathology.
What will happen to my excess skin?
It will depend on your obesity level, weight loss and skin elasticity. Some patients will need plastic surgery to correct the skin folds. Around two years after your surgery, your case will be reviewed by our multidisciplinary team to decide the next step. This surgery is performed once you have lost the expected weight and your weight is stable. The results of skin correction are usually very good.
